I was waiting for this Morris Arboretum Wedding for some time. It really exceeded my expectations of what an emotional and special day this was going to be.

Let’s start from the beginning and talk about these two wonderful humans. I’m lucky to have met and become friends with Terence years ago. I immediately loved him, and, he ended up loving me too. (Much to his surprise, haha) I honestly think he’s my soulmate in friend form. Terence is one of those people who will tell you exactly what is on his mind. He’s honest, real, and extremely loyal to the people he loves. When I met Bill, I quickly realized how much they compliment one another. Bill is calm, sweet, and patient and Terence is passionate and wears his heart on his sleeve. Together, they make an unstoppable couple.

When Terence called me to tell me that Bill and him were getting married, I pretty much begged him to let me photograph the day. He kept trying to tell me no but I really wasn’t going to listen to him. It meant so much to me to be able to document a day as important as this.

They got ready together, in perfect Terence and Bill fashion. I think this was so important to keep them both calm. It doesn’t matter if everyone else in the world says you *should* do things for your wedding a certain way. What is important is that you prioritize what you need! I was happy that Terence and Bill were able to do that. After they finished getting ready, we then traveled to the Morris Arboretum for the wedding which is AMAZING!! In every corner, its breath-taking, from the gardens, the canopy tree top cocktail hour, the golden sunset that blessed Terence and Bill on their wedding day.

It was a wedding like no other, surrounded by their closest family and friends and a party to follow. There were so many happy tears and so much laughter. We stole away for photos which allowed T&B to just take it all in that they were married! I still love saying it.

It’s so much more…

At the end of the night, I was walking out with Bill when their wedding coordinator from the Morris Arboretum asked him how the night went. I don’t think I will ever forget his response: “I can’t even say that today is a dream come true because for so long, this was something I never thought could be reality…..It’s so much more then that.” I don’t think I will ever forget those words. In fact, I think about this moment so often. Terence and Bill were always just my friends. I didn’t think of them differently then any other couple I knew. And not long ago, T&B wouldn’t have been able to stand in front of their loved ones and commit their lives to one another, which is heart breaking to think about. Two people who love each other so unconditionally should be able to make that decision no matter what their sexual orientation may be.

T + B, I freaking love you both. I can’t thank you enough for having me be such a huge part of your day. You both mean the world to me!!

Are you getting married? I’d love to hear from you here!
