If you’ve never been to Hawk Mountain in Pennsylvania, its a must – see. The views are really beautiful, there are multiple trails to hike, and its just a calm, peaceful area. When Danielle and Austin reached out about their intimate wedding, they mentioned that they were hoping to do a few photos at Hawk Mountain. I was so excited by the thought because I had been hiking there a few times and knew the views would be great.
I arrived at their family home where they had it decorated for a small outdoor dinner. The ceremony would be in the backyard and was decorated by a small arbor with beautiful flowers surrounding it. They had cocktail hour set up near the pool and the most beautiful cheese board I have ever seen. We started with a first look, Austin has a great sense of humor and I tried to capture some of that during their moments together. We jumped into the car and drove to Hawk Mountain for some photos. (Can we pause for a moment and talk about Danielle’s dress. I was stunned when I saw her walk out for the first look. )
Hawk Mountain was actually pretty busy but people cleared out quickly so we could take a few photos at the lookout, which was really sweet! We took a few more photos near their visitor center before heading back to the ceremony. For October, it was an extremely warm day! The sun was shining down over the backyard as Danielle and Austin walked each other down the aisle. Their family and friends had parasol’s which helped keep the sun away and were really cute.
The Ceremony
Finally, the ceremony. What better setting than outdoors surrounded by blue skies, family and friends. It was perfect. Their good friend officiated and they had hand written vows. It really couldn’t have been better. What I love most about micro weddings is how personal they are and how the focus is on the really important parts of a wedding day. Don’t get me wrong, I love a big wedding celebration as well. But whats amazing about what I do is that I get to experience love and marriage in so many different ways. Sometimes it is as simple as a courthouse ceremony and sometimes its a weekend long wedding celebration.
The ceremony went immediately into cocktail hour. Danielle and Austin wanted to keep their focus on the day and not be concerned with photos so I didn’t stay much after cocktail hour. I did ask them if they wanted to grab a few more photos before I left so we snuck across the street for a few more photos while the sun was starting to set.
